This site includes a number of links with pictures, videos, and information about the many Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines six students and Dr. Roemer visited during a two-week trip to Japan in July 2010. There are also links with information about, and visuals of, several of the festivals we saw (including 2 of the "top 3" festivals in Japan). Also, read our overviews about different religions of Japan, take a historical look at these religions, and learn about common household rituals in contemporary Japan. Finally, we've added some other useful links about life in Japan, an introduction to the students of this project, and a guide to how to visit a Shinto shrine and Buddhist temple virtually in Second Life. With your "Avatar", you can visit these buildings and learn more about religion in Japan. You'll be able to make your Avatar do the "proper" rituals, giving you the chance to actually visit Japan from anywhere for free!
